Will AAP be able to win in Badarpur, because in every third election people change their mind

Babarpur Assembly Election 2025: Babarpur Assembly constituency in Delhi is one of the VIP constituencies. The history is that no party has won three consecutive elections. This time, the Aam Aadmi Party and its candidate Gopal Rai are trying their best to win from here for the third time. He is directly contesting with BJP’s Brahmin candidate Anil Vashishtha and former AAP MLA from Seelampur Ishraq Khan. Ishraq has left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Congress.

Talking about the results of the elections held in Babarpur so far, the BJP has been influential in seven elections held from 1993 to 2020. The BJP has won four seats so far. Significantly, Naresh Gaur represented the party here on behalf of the BJP in the 1993 to 2020 elections.

This time, the party has cut his ticket and bet on Anil Vasisht. Gaur had lost to AAP’s Gopal Rai in the last two elections in 2020 and 2015. He lost to Congress’ Vinay Sharma once in 2003. Naresh Gaur was successful in winning the Babarpur seat in 1993, 1998, 2008 and 2013.

This time it is a triangular match.

Babarpur seat has the highest number of Brahmin voters. A total of 57 percent of voters belong to the non-Muslim community, while 43 percent are Muslim voters whose one-time vote could unilaterally eliminate the outcome of this election. This is the reason why the Congress has fielded Ishraq Khan from here. While the BJP has bet on Anil Vasisht keeping in mind the majority of non-Muslim and Brahmin voters.

The Aam Aadmi Party has trusted Gopal Rai, but this time the contest here looks triangular between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP. By the way, the history of this seat has been that in every third election, people changed their minds and with it they also changed their representatives.

216473 voters will cast their votes this time

The number of voters in Babarpur Assembly constituency is 2,16,473. There are 1,14,617 male voters and 1,01,841 female voters. There are 15 third-sex voters. Broken roads and waterlogging during monsoon is the biggest issue in this assembly constituency.

Broken roads, sanitation and waterlogging are a critical problem

Locals say the drains have not been cleaned for a long time. All drains are filled with silt. Within a few hours of the rain, the drains were washed away. Dirty water starts flowing on the roads. While the broken roads remain a major hinderance to smooth movement. There are big potholes on the roads. In such a situation, people have to face difficulties during the agitation and the possibility of accidents also remains. Poor street lights in the colonies remain off for months.
