  • Any ration card holder will now use a digital ration card instead of a physical ration card.
  • It is mandatory for all ration card holders to obtain their ration card eKYC.
  • The last date for obtaining eKYC of ration card has been fixed as 31 December 2024.
  • Citizens who do not get the KYC of their ration card, in such a case, their ration card will be cancelled.

Financial assistance and change in ration quantity

  • Provision has been made to give an additional amount of thousands per month to families with economically weak ration card holders.
  • On behalf of the Government of India, ration card holders will be given an increase in the amount of ration including the quantity of wheat and rice.
  • According to the new system of ration cards, now every person will be given 5 kg of food grains, in which 3 kg of rice and 2 kg of wheat will be given.

Change in ration card eligibility and criteria

Annual income limit

  • The annual income of citizens living in urban area should not exceed ₹3,00,000.
  • The annual income of citizens living in rural areas should not exceed ₹2,00,000.

Ration card holder property limit

  • Citizens living in urban areas should not have a large flat or house of more than 100 square metres
  • Ration card holders living in rural areas should not have a plot or house larger than 100 square metres.

Vehicle ownership with ration card holders

  • Ration card holders with four-wheelers will be considered ineligible for the ration card benefits of citizens.
  • Citizens living in rural areas who have four-wheeled vehicles with tractors etc. will be considered ineligible
