In this seat, Congress and AAP won three times but BJP won only once

Timarpur Assembly Constituency: There is a direct contest between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP in the Timarpur Assembly constituency in northeast Delhi. The BJP has got a chance to savour the taste of victory in this seat only once. After this, the party could never return here. The Congress has won the Timarpur seat three times and the Aam Aadmi Party three times.
Surinder Pal Singh Bittu, who joined the Aam Aadmi Party, has been fielded, who had joined the BJP before the elections. He was earlier in the Congress and has also been an MLA from Timarpur on a Congress ticket in 2003 and 2008. The BJP has fielded Surya Prakash Khatri.
Gradually won the trust of the workers
He had contested elections once, but could not succeed. The Congress has fielded Lokendra Kalyan. Bittu has come to you recently and has taken the ticket directly. In such a situation, it is a challenge for them to keep the lower workers in their favour. “An AAP leader said, “”In the beginning, they found it very difficult to get the support of the workers.” But, gradually, he has won the trust of workers in the name of the party.
Bittu had contested the 2020 assembly elections from the BJP
However, they still need more support. In the 2020 assembly elections, Bittu had contested from the BJP and lost to AAP’s Dilip Pandey by 24144 votes. He got 38.13 per cent votes. Increasing the vote percentage is a big challenge for BJP’s Surya Prakash Khatri, who is in the fray this time. In the last assembly, AAP’s Dilip Pandey got 57.60 per cent votes.
Large population of underprivileged community in Melakaganj ward
The difference in vote share between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party is 19 per cent. If the BJP wants to win, they have to increase at least 20 per cent votes. This is no less of a challenge for them. Khatri comes from Jat caste. The Jat caste does not have many votes in Timarpur. While in Mukherjee Nagar block, the population of Punjabi community is up to 40 percent. If Bittu gets their support, he can directly benefit. Because there is a large population of underprivileged community in the Melakaganj ward. You have a good vote bank.
Big vote bank of Purvanchal in Timarpur ward
However, the Timarpur ward of Purvanchal has a large vote bank. Voting in favour of BJP is more or less known. This can benefit the BJP. “A worker who joined the BJP from AAP said, “”The movement of people at the lower level is moving towards the BJP.” The sewer work here has not been done properly. People are worried about this. On the other hand, the election is a big challenge for the Lokendra Kalyan of the Congress.
Last time, Congress candidate Amarlata Sangwan got only 2.50 per cent votes. His vote share has dropped by 9 per cent. The Congress will have to withdraw 9 per cent votes first. If Congress can do this, the competition will be even more interesting. It will be known on February 8 which side Vijay’s camel will sit.
Whose property when?
In the 1993 elections, BJP’s Rajendra Gupta had won the Timarpur assembly. In 1998, Congress’s Jagdish Anand won. Then in 2003 and 08 Surinder Pal Singh Bittu was the winner. Harish Khanna from Aam Aadmi Party in 2013, Pankaj Pushkar in 2015 and Dilip Pandey in 2020 have been MLAs.
