What is the full scheme?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, farmers are provided with the facility of solar panels for irrigation. Under this scheme, 90% of the total cost of installing solar pumps will be met with a subsidy given by the government. While the remaining 10% of the cost will be paid on behalf of the farmers themselves. The electricity emitted from the solar panel can be used for irrigation. The excess power can be sold to the power distribution company (DISCOM). This will make solar pumps a means of income for farmers. The solar panel will last for 25 years and can be maintained very easily.
According to the report, in the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, up to 90% of solar pumps are subsidised by the government, which is borne by the central and state governments. In this, the central government and the state government give 30-30% subsidy. Banks provide up to 30 per cent of loans. Farmers, cooperative societies, panchayats, groups of farmers, farmer producer organisations, water consumer associations etc. can take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana.

Aadhaar card, identity card, ration card, copy of registration, authorisation letter, net worth certificate issued to chartered accountant, bank account passbook, land documents, passport size photo, mobile number etc. will be required to apply for Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana.
