In 2015, Shoaib Iqbal contested the election on a Congress ticket, but lost to AAP’s Asim Ahmed Khan. In 2020, he got a ticket from AAP and contested the election and defeated the BJP candidate. Asif Mohammad Khan was elected MLA from the Congress in 2013, but Amanatullah Khan was elected MLA from the AAP in 2015 and 2020. In the 2015 and 2020 elections, the Congress came third in this seat. The Mustafabad Assembly constituency, which was established in 2008, has 36 per cent Muslim voters. In 2008, 2013, Hassan Ahmed was elected MLA from the Congress. About 38 per cent of voters in Ballimaran Assembly constituency are Muslims. Harun Yusuf became an MLA from Ballimaran from the Congress in 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013.
