30 thousand policemen will be deployed for voting in Delhi, security will be increased

Increased security in Delhi : More than 150 companies of paramilitary forces and more than 30,000 policemen will be deployed in the city ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. Special CP (Crime) and Election Cell in-charge Devesh Chandra Srivastava outlined the preparations for the February 5 elections in the national capital.

Delhi Police personnel are committed to ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections. Arrangements have been made before the elections. He further said that along with regular cash seizures, records of drugs and liquor have also been seized. About 3,000 polling stations have been identified as sensitive and drones will be used in some of these places.

Deployment of additional police force will be ensured for sensitive booths and Rapid Response Teams (QRTs) will also be deployed to maintain peace, law and order. In January, the Delhi Police held an inter-state coordination meeting with various agencies to discuss the security arrangements.

Cyber experts are keeping a strict watch

The meeting, chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, was attended by senior police officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir. “Another police official said, “”During the meeting, senior Delhi Police officials requested more than 150 paramilitary companies and cyber-specific officers to maintain strict surveillance.” More than 30,000 police personnel will be deployed for the election.

More than 1000 cases of MCC violation registered

Drug trafficking has been banned

A total of 33,434 people have been arrested under various statutory provisions including the Excise Act during this period. Ahead of the elections, police have increased surveillance at border posts and cracked down on illegal activities, including smuggling of arms, alcohol and drugs. The Delhi Police has registered 1,049 cases of alleged violation of the MCC and seized 462 illegal firearms and 510 cartridges.

Police have arrested 177 people so far

Additionally, security agencies have seized 1,08,258 litres of liquor and arrested 1,353 people. In addition, 196.602 kg of medicines worth more than Rs 77.9 crore have been seized. More than 1,200 banned injections have also been seized. So far, 177 people have been arrested. Officials have also seized Rs 11.23 crore in cash and 37.39 kg of silver. According to the police, all district DCPs and senior officers have been briefed about the election preparations.

Police teams intensified day and night patrolling: DCP Surendra Chaudhary
