What is this fitment factor?

Understand, the fitment factor is a magic number by which your basic salary is multiplied. In the 7th Pay Commission, it was 2.57. Because of this, the basic salary of Level 1 increased from Rs 7,000 (in the 6th Pay Commission) to Rs 18,000 directly! However, this was not your full salary. After adding things like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance, the total salary reached Rs 36,020.

What will happen in the 8th Pay Commission?

There are also reports that the fitment factor can be increased to 2.86 in the 8th Pay Commission! If this happens, then the basic pay in Level 1 will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480 directly! Level 1 (Peon, Attendant, Support Staff): Basic pay increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480, that is, a jump of Rs 33,480!

Level 2 (Lower Division Clerk): Basic pay increased from Rs 19,900 to Rs 56,914, a benefit of Rs 37,014.

Level 3 (Constable, Skilled Staff): Basic pay increased from Rs 21,700 to Rs 62,062, an increase of Rs 40,362.

Level 4 (Grade D Stenographer, Junior Clerk): Basic pay increased from Rs 25,500 to Rs 72,930, an increase of Rs 47,430.

Level 5 (Senior Clerk, Technical Staff): Basic Pay increased from Rs 29,200 to Rs 83,512, an increase of Rs 54,312.

Level 6 (Inspector, Sub-Inspector): Basic Pay increased from Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,01,244, a jump of Rs 65,844.

Level 7 (Superintendent, Section Officer, Assistant Engineer): Basic Pay increased from Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,28,414, a gain of Rs 83,514.

Level 8 (Senior Section Officer, Assistant Audit Officer): Basic Pay increased from Rs 47,600 to Rs 1,36,136, an increase of Rs 88,536.

Level 9 (Deputy Superintendent of Police, Accounts Officer): Basic pay increased from Rs 53,100 to Rs 1,51,866, an increase of Rs 98,766.

Level 10 (Group A Officer, Entry-Level Civil Service): Basic pay increased from Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,60,446, an increase of Rs 1,04,346.

When will this new salary be received?

The 8th Pay Commission will submit its report to the government, after which the recommendations will be implemented. If everything goes well, government employees may start getting new salaries by next year.
