Cash and narcotics seized four times, broken record of 2020 Delhi election

Delhi election breaks record : On February 8, 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections will be held . Cash, drugs and precious metals worth more than Rs 220 crore have been seized ahead of the elections. The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office gave this information on Monday (February 4, 2025).
On the last day of the campaign, the CEO said the seized goods included medicines worth Rs 88 crore, precious metals worth Rs 81 crore and cash worth about Rs 40 crore. Delhi Election will be on February 5 and the results will be declared on February 8. The CEO said the seizure was four times higher than in the 2020 assembly elections when the total seizure was only Rs 57.5 crore. “He assured that the elections would be conducted””free, fair and transparent”” manner.”
Thousands of complaints filed on C-Vigil
The CEO said that more than 7,500 complaints have been received on the ‘C-Vigil’ platform since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Out of these, 7,467 complaints have been successfully resolved, while only 32 complaints are being worked on. This time, the Election Commission has shown speed in the disposal of complaints. According to the report, in 90 percent of cases, complaints were resolved within just 100 minutes, boosting voter confidence.
Strict surveillance and strong security arrangements after seizure
The Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure fair elections. Deployment of police and paramilitary forces has been increased across the city. Special surveillance is being maintained in sensitive areas to avoid any unrest. Check posts and surveillance teams have been activated to prevent the transport of cash, liquor and illicit material. At the same time, the Election Commission says that Delhi voters can exercise their franchise without any fear.
