Congress Vs AAP: The Aam Aadmi Party, which has been in power in Delhi for 10 years, is keeping an eye on the hat-trick of victory this time, but the path is not looking easy. Even though the BJP is making all its efforts to block its path by becoming a rock, the Congress’s triangle team is looking like an even bigger hinderance for Arvind Kejriwal. The Aam Aadmi Party is well aware that if the Congress is strong, it will have to bear its direct loss. They are not afraid that the Congress will win some seats, but the fear is that the BJP will win.
Is the Congress taking a soft stand?
A few days ago, during a discussion on India TV news channel, senior journalist Deepak Chaurasia had claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party is afraid of the Congress’ aggression. He even claimed that after the aggressive behaviour of the Delhi Congress, Arvind Kejriwal had tried to convince the Congress high command through the rest of the leaders of the India alliance to take a soft stand against the AAP. To believe his claim, the Congress high command then sent a message to the leaders of the Delhi unit not to take an aggressive stand against the Aam Aadmi Party. This is the time when Ajay Maken called Kejriwal a ‘traitor’. The Youth Congress had filed a complaint with the police on behalf of AAP activists for the Mahila Samman Yojana and the alleged health scheme for the elderly, saying that it was a fraud by going door-to-door registration with the public. Sandeep Dikshit was also constantly attacking AAP and Kejriwal. Chaurasia claimed that after receiving a message from the high command, the Congress leaders’ aggressive stance on AAP softened.
AAP is afraid of Congress!
In this election, the Aam Aadmi Party is more afraid of the Congress than the BJP. The Indian Express quoted a senior AAP leader as saying that without saying that the party is not worried that the Congress will snatch some seats, it will help strengthen the BJP.
Aam Aadmi Party leaders have been continuously alleging in their rallies and press conferences that the Congress is helping the BJP in Delhi. Chief Ministers Atishi and Sanjay Singh have even alleged that Congress candidates are being elected from the BJP office. It is his allegation that the BJP is funding several Congress candidates.
AAP and Congress in some seats
According to the Express report, the Aam Aadmi Party is keeping a close watch on the Congress’s campaign in about 10 seats, including Okhla, Chandni Chowk and Badli. In these seats, the Aam Aadmi Party may face a tough fight from the Congress. Ariba Khan, daughter of former Congress MLA Asif Ahmed Khan, is contesting against AAP’s Amanatullah Khan in Okhla. Mudit Agarwal, son of senior Congress leader JP Agarwal, is the fray at Chandni Chowk, son of sitting MLA Prahlad Singh Sahni. Delhi Congress president Devendra Yadav has challenged AAP MLA Ajesh Yadav with a change.
