Delhi Weather Alert: Rain, Fog, and Cold on the Way!

Delhi Weather Alert: Hey Delhiites, we’re in for a weather rollercoaster! Get those warm layers back out because the weatherman’s predicting light rain for Monday and Tuesday. Think of it as a mini-monsoon throwback! This could bring back the chill, so be prepared for a return of the cold. A yellow alert has been issued, so keep an eye on the skies and maybe carry an umbrella. Fog is also expected in several areas, so those morning commutes might be slow. Temperatures will likely hover around 22 degrees Celsius during the day and dip to about 9 degrees Celsius at night.
Remember Sunday morning’s foggy start? Visibility at Safdarjung Airport was down to 200 meters around 7 am, and Palam Airport was practically shrouded in a 50-meter fog at 4 am! Talk about a misty morning!
The weather’s been playing its game in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain and snowfall have changed things, and those icy winds are blowing down into North India, making it colder in many places. Fog has also been causing problems across 12 states, with disruptions reported from Saturday night until Sunday morning. Sadly, there were reports of accidents and fatalities in Punjab and Haryana due to the dense fog.
Srinagar shivered at a minimum temperature of 1 degree Celsius on Sunday, with snowfall in Kashmir and fog in the Jammu plains. The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar says this wet and snowy spell could last until February 10. Rain and snowfall are predicted for the 4th and 5th, cloudy skies from the 6th to the 8th, and more rain and snow on the 9th and 10th. Jammu, enjoying sunny days with temperatures as high as 25 degrees Celsius, is now feeling the chill again.
Foggy conditions also affected Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. On Sunday, thirteen flights were delayed due to poor visibility. Airport Director Pravat Ranjan Beuria confirmed that two arrivals and eleven departures were affected.
And guess what? The fog isn’t going anywhere just yet! On Monday, The Meteorological Department warned of dense fog in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya. We might get some relief on Tuesday, though. A new western disturbance is expected to bring rain to parts of Rajasthan over the next few days, especially in the eastern and northern regions. Lunkaransar recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Rajasthan in the last 24 hours, at a chilly 4.4 degrees Celsius.
