Free items worth Rs 194 crore seized, preparations for voting in Delhi elections complete

Preparation For Polling: Goods worth Rs 194 crore brought to influence voting in the Delhi Assembly elections have been seized so far. On Friday, Chief Election Officer R. Ellis Vaz held a press conference and briefed on preparations for the February 5 vote and the counting of votes on February 8.

He said preparations have been made to make the election fair and convenient. Where water, crèches and feeding rooms will be available at every polling station. So also, there will be rape facility for disabled voters.

The commission invested items worth 194 crores

He said action was being taken to confiscate the free items used to influence the election. The Commission has so far seized items worth Rs 194 crore at checkpoints of 175 inter-state borders.

Liquor, cash and drugs worth Rs 1.2 crore have been seized from them, he said. He said that a total of nine thousand 955 employees will provide their services in this election. This includes police forces and election workers. 70 per cent of the voting slips have been distributed.

The distribution of the remaining slips will also be done in the coming days before the elections. He said that citizens who have not received the voting slip can contact the Commission’s website and the Voter Helpline 1950. The CEO said that 13766 polling stations have been set up at 2696 polling stations for the assembly elections.

In this, each of the 70 assembly constituencies will be run by one centre exclusively by women employees. At the same time, 70 polling stations will be fully managed and operated by Divyang. 70 polling stations will be set up specifically to encourage youth participation and participation in the electoral process.

However, carrying mobile phones to polling stations will remain completely prohibited. According to officials, the decision is to create secrecy of polling and is in accordance with the guidelines of the Central Election Commission.

C-Vigile received 98 per cent complaints

The Election Commission is benefitting greatly from the power of the C-Vigil app given to citizens to monitor violations of the Model Code of Conduct. The Commission has received about six thousand complaints, out of which 98 per cent of the complaints have been found to be valid. According to the Commission, 5920 complaints have been received so far.

In this, 5216 complaints were verified by the Flying Self-Qualified Team (FST). The average time for redressal of grievances was 36.16 minutes. It is worth noting that the complaint received on the C-Vigil app should be made within 100 minutes. The northern district received the highest number of complaints on the C-Vigil app with 1243. In New Delhi, 971 complaints have been received.

Two EVMs will be installed in two assembly constituencies

Delhi has two assembly constituencies with 23 and 16 candidates. Due to this, two EVMs will be installed during voting in two assembly constituencies. There are 23 candidates in New Delhi and 16 in Janakpuri. An EVM contains the details of 15 candidates. In such a situation, two EVMs will be installed. There will be 21584 EVMs, 20692 control units and 18943 VVPATs.

AI based queue management system issued by the Commission

The CEO has launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based queue management system for the Delhi Assembly elections. Under this, citizens can see how many people queue at the polling station by downloading the QMS app from the Google Play Store or through a webpage.

According to the commission, we have installed CCTV cameras inside and outside each polling station to implement it smoothly. These cameras are connected to this app and webpage. In this, citizens can see the queue by entering their assembly and polling station information and can vote or plan voting at the scheduled time on the day of polling as per their convenience.
