New Parties In Delhi Assembly : From February 5, 699 candidates will contest the 70-member Delhi Assembly. After filing 1,522 nominations in the election, the commission had found the leaflet of 981 candidates correct. In a subsequent investigation, 719 claimants remained. After the process of withdrawal of names, 699 candidates will now try their luck in 70 assemblies in the constituency.
New Delhi seat will be the biggest challenge
According to information received from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, the toughest contest will be in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. There are 23 candidates from different parties in the fray.
On the other hand, the seats with the least number of candidates in Delhi are Kasturba Nagar Assembly and Patel Nagar Assembly. Five candidates, including the Congress, the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, are in the fray for these two seats.
There will be a scam in Kalkaji seat too
At the same time, there is a scam in Kalkaji Assembly constituency. Apart from the Congress and the BJP, 10 other candidates are also contesting against the Aam Aadmi Party candidate. Similarly, nine candidates are in the fray in Jangpura Assembly constituency.

On the other hand, six candidates are in the fray in Greater Kailash, Trinagar and Tilak Nagar assemblies. While seven candidates are in the fray in Chandni Chowk, Trilokpuri, Krishna Nagar, Delhi Cantt, Rajinder Nagar, Narela, Bawana, Shakurbasti, Malviya Nagar, Deoli and Palam.
Parties have taken a new mould in the field of politics
- Of the 10 assembly seats coming from South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, BJP, AAP and Congress have fielded 12 new candidates. Only the election results will tell how successful the parties’ strategy of giving tickets to new candidates will be.
- In the 2020 assembly elections, the Congress had fielded Pramod Kumar Yadav from Badarpur border. He was not even granted bail.
- This time, the party has given ticket to a new and young face Arjun Bhadana. Arjun Bhadana is the son of former MP Avtar Singh Bhadana and is contesting elections for the first time.
- This time, the BJP and the Congress have not fielded their candidates for Assembly 2020 from the Okhla Assembly seat. The Congress had given ticket to Parvesh Hasami and the BJP had given ticket to Brahm Singh in 2020.
