Election Commission’s notice to Kejriwal seeks evidence by 8 pm tomorrow on the statement of ‘poison in the water of Yamuna’

Notice to Kejriwal: The case of poison in the water of Yamuna has become hot amid the hustle and bustle of assembly elections in Delhi. The Election Commission (EC) has issued a notice to Arvind Kejriwal. This notice is on his allegation of poisoning the water of Yamuna on behalf of Haryana. Kejriwal had claimed that if the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had not caught the poison, the massacre could have happened. The Election Commission has expressed concern that Kejriwal’s allegations could have serious consequences. These include hostilities between regional groups, tensions between residents of neighbouring states, and law and order problems due to shortages of water. The Election Commission has asked Kejriwal to provide evidence by 8 pm tomorrow.
Legal action may be taken against Kejriwal
The notice mentions several clauses of the law. These include Section 196 (Creation of Hostility on the Basis of the Commission’s location), Section 197 (Fees Detrimental to National Integration) and Section 353 (Misleading the Public) of the BNS. All these sections can lead to imprisonment for up to three years. In addition, Section 123 (4) of the Representation of the People Act can also be enforced. The EC has also cited a report from the DJB. In this report, there is no talk of poison in the water of Yamuna. Nor is there any mention of any action to prevent toxic water at the Delhi border.
what is the matter?
The Election Commission has said that Kejriwal will have to present evidence for his allegations. If they do not, legal action can be taken against them. The issue is related to water sharing between Delhi and Haryana. The issue has been disputed between the two states several times in the past. It remains to be seen how Kejriwal reacts to the Election Commission’s notice. Only time will tell if they will be able to provide evidence for their claims. People from both the states are keeping an eye on the issue.
