Happy Republic Day: Chief Minister Atishi said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has given a lot of relief to the people of Delhi by providing free electricity, water, education, health and other services. He said that the Delhi government spends 25 per cent of the budget on children’s education. The event was organised on the eve of Republic Day at the Chhatrasal Stadium on Saturday. The chief guest of the event Atishi congratulated the countrymen on Republic Day.
After hoisting the tricolour, Chief Minister Atishi enumerated the achievements of the AAP government in his address. He claimed that Delhi gets electricity only 24 hours. He said that there was no power cut even in the sweltering heat last year. Giving information, Chief Minister Atishi said that 11 lakh women are taking advantage of free travel every day in Delhi.
“In the last 10 years, with the construction of 38 flyovers, we have also rapidly developed roads, metros and buses,” he said. The 450-kilometre metro line connects every corner of Delhi. Today it has become easy to go from one place to another in Delhi. In the last five years, women have benefitted 150 crore times from free bus travel. Now we pledge to empower every woman in Delhi, so that good education, health facilities and employment can be provided to all.
‘Removed the worry of bus fare for girls to go to college’
Chief Minister Atishi said that girls of Delhi are provided the best educational facilities in government schools. Earlier, only 11 per cent of women in Delhi had come out of their homes to work. He said that the worry of renting a bus for daughters to go to college has gone away. To increase women’s participation in the economy, the AAP government has made bus travel free.
