The process of casting votes from home for the elderly and the disabled has started.

Elderly and disabled people are voting at home: Voters over the age of 85 may be unable to walk and have become vulnerable, but their desire to strengthen democracy is the same as that of the youth. A day before Voters Day, the voting process of elderly and disabled voters for the Delhi Assembly elections has started from Friday. More than 100 elderly and differently abled voters cast their votes in different assembly constituencies.

Election office teams are going to voters’ homes to cast their votes. The Election Commission has facilitated voters that elderly and disabled voters can cast their votes from home. There are 1,09,064 and 79,088 Divyang voters above the age of 85 years in Delhi. Out of these, 6396 elderly and 1046 differently-abled voters have opted to vote from home. Until February 4, various teams will visit the homes of eligible voters to cast their votes.

Exercise the right to vote

Umashankar Bhatnagar, a resident of Greater Kailash, is 102 years old. On Friday, they voted at their home. During this, he said that everyone should not forget to use their vote. Every people of the country above 18 years has the right to vote. On polling day, go out of the house and vote for yourself. Also, make other people aware of it. KK Khanna, a 92-year-old resident of Janakpuri, is a retired Reserve Bank of India. After casting his vote at his home, he said everyone should vote. This will strengthen democracy. The Election Commission’s initiative to vote at home is good. This ensures the role of those who are unable to advance in democracy.

West Delhi has the highest number of elderly people

According to data from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, Delhi has the highest number of elderly people in the western district of the revenue department. The number of voters above 85 years of age is 14,772. All these voters were given Form 12D to vote at home. Out of this, 1050 voters have filled the voting form from home. On the other hand, the number of voters above 85 years of age in North East Delhi is 5593. At least 65 voters will cast their votes at home. Out of 79088 differently-abled voters, 1046 voters have opted to vote from home. The South West District has the highest number of voters with 243. The South Eastern district has the lowest number of 57 voters.
