Believe in old faces
The AAP has fielded Atishi, Pooja Balyan, Pramila Tokas and Rakhi Birlan along with five other women candidates, of whom Atishi, Pramila Tokas, Dhanvanti Chandela, Bandana Kumar and Sarita Singh are again in the fray. The percentage of wins kept changing
In 1993, out of 1,316 candidates, only 58 were women, which was only 4 percent, and only three of them won. Given the success of women, by 1998, women’s participation had declined slightly and 57 women had entered the fray. However, the success rate improved and increased from five percent to 16. What is the record so far? Similarly, in 2003, the number of female candidates increased to 78, but only 9 percent of the candidates won the election.
Similarly, participation increased to 81 in 2008, with the success rate falling to 4 percent. In 2013, the number of female candidates decreased to 71, while the success rate remained unchanged. In 2015, 66 women candidates entered the fray, with 9 percent winning. In 2020, 79 women contested the election, winning 8 candidates or about 10 percent.
AAP’s female candidates won percentage higher
The AAP has consistently increased the number of women candidates. The percentage of women candidates in the party has been very good. According to data, in 2013, 6 women contested the election and three won. All six women had also won in 2015. In 2020, the party fielded 9 women, out of which 8 won. Given the win percentage, the party has scored 9 runs again this year.
