Tight Security For Election: This time there is going to be a ‘high voltage’ competition in the assembly elections. Political parties and their activists are trying to grab everything. As the speed of publicity increases, so will the work of the police. February 5 is the most important day for voting. After testing several parameters, 471 sensitive polling stations and 2922 polling stations have been identified. More staff of police and paramilitary forces will be deployed to cast a peaceful vote on them. They will be monitored by drones.
Some parameters for booth identification
Some parameters have been set for identification of sensitive polling stations and booths. Dense population with communal tensions, more than 90 percent votes in the last election, 70 percent votes to the same candidate, less than 10 percent voting in five years, re-voting, booth occupation, and first polling centres considered to be violent. In the Lok Sabha elections 2022, there were 429 sensitive polling stations, while there were 2890 sensitive polling stations. This time, 42 polling stations and 32 booths have been categorised as more sensitive.
The police are constantly alert by putting pickets
Of the total 15 districts of Delhi Police, 10 have borders with other states. Special CP (Crime) Devesh Chandra Srivastava has been made the nodal officer of Delhi Police for the assembly elections. He said that the border of Delhi connects with the neighbouring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. There are 164 entry points in Delhi, of which 43 are large and 121 are small. Police are on constant alert. CCTV cameras are being installed there, through which strict surveillance will be maintained. Police in both states have also been asked to hold a dharna. A joint dharna with the police of these states will be started soon.
Licensed weapons are being deposited
Police have sent notices to all those who have guns, revolvers or pistol licenses. All have been asked to deposit their weapons at their local police station. Police officials said more than 47000 people in Delhi have licensed weapons. Since the notice was issued, 15,000 people have started depositing their licensed weapons. All police stations have also been alerted about illegal weapons.
1260 teams are monitoring
1260 teams have been formed to stop the move to lure, intimidate or impress voters during the campaign, who are travelling 24 hours a day. This time there are 630 flying squads and 630 static surveillance teams (SSTs), which were 210-210 teams last time. There are 9-9 teams in an assembly, working in three shifts. Each team has employees from the police, income tax, district magistrate, excise or Enforcement Directorate (ED) and some other departments. He also has a videographer with him.
SST will check the border area
Members of the stationary surveillance teams remain at important check posts in the Assembly constituencies under their deployment. They identify sensitive places and fix check posts. Keep an eye on the vehicles passing there. Any kind of illegal liquor, weapons, more than 50 thousand cash and other suspicious items are being monitored. If anyone is caught in cash of more than ten lakh rupees, the income tax department will be informed.
Drugs worth Rs 17 crore, liquor worth Rs 1 crore seized
Since the implementation of the code of conduct, 439 cases have been registered by the police for its violation from January 7 to 20. Under this, 338 illegal weapons and 332 illegal cartridges have been recovered. The police have seized 38,075 litres of liquor worth over Rs one crore, 104.90 kg drugs worth over Rs 17 crore, Rs 3 crore 22 lakh 44 thousand 425 cash and 37.39 kg silver. 15,495 people have been arrested in preventive action and other acts.
