Realme GT 7 Review: A few months ago, Realme’s GT series made an attempt at that with the Realme GT 7 Pro. The Realme GT 7 and GT 7T are the two new phones that have been added to this lineup. It is all about the GT 7 today, but we will go into the GT 7T later (believe me, there is lot to unpack there).

When it comes to launching a new chipset to the Indian market, the Realme GT 7 has drawn a lot of influence from its older sibling, the GT 7 Pro. It is outfitted with the Dimensity 9400e chipset from MediaTek by Realme.

What matters most, though, and the reason you are reading this, is how well the GT 7 performs in real life. How does it compare to the newly released iQOO Neo 10? As you continue reading, I will help you determine whether this phone is as amazing as it seems or if it is just another example of “sounds good on paper, meh in real life.

Performance Review of the Realme GT 7

The phone has the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset, as I have already stated. It is part of the flagship family, which also includes the Dimensity 9400 Plus and 9400, with a few thoughtful concessions to provide a performance that is nearly flagship. In terms of real-time performance, it is in the middle between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and the recently released 8s Gen 4, which is housed in the iQOO Neo 10.

The 9400e is paired with UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5X RAM. This corresponds to what I would describe as a satisfactory performance for the majority of users of this phone.

If you consider it to be a stand-alone gadget, you do not need to bother about benchmarks. Let me clarify. Almost every app I used on this phone, including AnTuTu, Geekbench, Storage Test, and Geekbench AI, had amazing results. Look down below and see for yourself.

These scores are truly remarkable. Although the GT 7 works admirably, things become really intriguing when compared to the recently released iQOO Neo 10. I am not claiming that the Neo 10 performs better by any means. The GT 7 is ahead, but not by much, in terms of benchmarking numbers as well as real-world usage, which I will discuss next. Additionally, the Rs 10,000 price gap between the two phones will undoubtedly be noticed by India, a market that is price-sensitive.

Regarding performance in real life, I observed no issues throughout regular use. Smooth software is matched with incredibly powerful hardware. I also experimented with gaming in and out of GT mode. The FPS in BGMI was really steady when playing. It hardly dropped below 116 frames per second, which is even better than the Neo 10’s performance. The lowest FPS dip I could detect was about 114, even when playing with squads in a classic match that made you feel like hell had broken loose. But keep in mind that GT mode was enabled at the time.

I experimented with a lot of other things on this phone because a performance-focused smartphone is not just for gaming. It was a little slow to edit HDR 4K 120FPS videos, especially when you added a lot of effects to the layer. At first, the playback was a little slow, but that did not happen when I switched to 1080p files. I exported the identical 10-minute HDR 4K 120FPS file in 4K 60FPS after duplicating it, and the GT 7 managed to do so in 8 minutes and 17 seconds. The Neo 10’s export time for the same project was just over ten minutes.

I also experimented with ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to test the NPU on the 9400e. This was done to test multimodal input and image production. It goes without saying that, even during Gemini Live sessions, I was unable to detect any lags or bugs.

A sizable 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution (2780 x 1264 pixels) is a characteristic of the Realme GT 7. With a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, using the interface, browsing websites, and watching movies seemed smooth and interesting. Everything looks great on this brilliant panel, whether you are watching video, playing games, or browsing through the colorful Instagram feed. The iQOO Neo 10, its primary rival, leads in the display refresh rate segment with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. But is the 120Hz vs. 144Hz differential really that significant? Not at all.

Also, suitable media is supported for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, which guarantees significantly more realistic visuals. The device’s peak brightness of 6000 nits also makes it possible to utilize it without needing to hide in order to catch a glance of the screen.

In particular, the GT 7’s design is heavily influenced by that of its older sibling, the Realme GT 7 Pro. Aluminum makes up the frame, while the back panel features a fiber glass finish that, to the touch, feels more like a slightly improved polycarbonate. This is just one more of the Realme GT 7’s fascinating departments. In terms of capacity, it has a 7000mAh battery that, depending on usage, can last up to two days. It lasted just under two days throughout my extensive testing, which included playing a ton of games, editing a ton of Instagram reels, running benchmarks, and other activities. However, I have been using it for almost 15 days, and the battery lasts at least two days on average. Thus, this is one area in which I am really happy.

Realme did, however, specify a few days ago that the Realme GT 7 will be the first smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery. I even looked at the Realme GT 10,000mAh, a concept phone, a few days before that. I thought the GT 7 would have a 10,000mAh battery, based on the announcement and the gadget, but it doesn’t. It goes without saying that the 7000mAh battery is excellent, but everyone would have been completely amazed if the Realme GT 7 had come with a 10,000mAh battery that was sold commercially.

When it comes to charging, the GT 7 has 120W fast charging capability, which means it can charge at an incredible rate. I only charged it to 100% once or twice throughout my usage because the 120W offered me the assurance that I would not have to wait hours to use the phone again.

The charging process takes fifteen to seventeen minutes. to around 50 percent, which is nothing these days. To fully charge it takes around 45 minutes, which is also nothing if you’re talking about charging a smartphone to 100 percent.

Review of the Realme GT 7: Conclusion and Cost

The entry-level Realme GT 7 model, which comes with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, costs Rs 39,999. When considering the device as a stand-alone product, I believe the price is excellent considering the performance, battery, design, and display it offers.
