Xiaomi 16 Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC and its key features were leaked online. Before its launch

Xiaomi is giving performance, battery life, and camera stability a lot of care. The Xiaomi 16 is a device to keep an eye on, with an expected October 2025 launch in China and an early 2026 release in India.

The Xiaomi 16, a successor for the flagship Xiaomi 15, has been the subject of multiple leaks despite only being a few months away from debut. Performance, battery, and camera changes are among the features that have been made public by the leaks that have already leaked.

The Xiaomi 15 arrived in India a few months ago, but because of leaked renders and specifications, it has already generated a lot of online hype.

Xiaomi 16 is likely going to include a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor.

The next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset from Qualcomm, which will be set up at the Snapdragon Summit on September 23–25, is expected to be included in the Xiaomi 16, as to a Weibo post by Tipster Digital Chat Station.

This is a logical improvement over the Xiaomi 15’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (also marketed as the 8 Elite). The Xiaomi 16 is expected to remain on the confirmed Qualcomm platform, despite the fact that Xiaomi also started testing its proprietary Xring 01 chip.

Expect an important battery increase.

The battery is the most notable detail from the leak. The Xiaomi 16 is said to include a 6,500mAh to 7,000mAh battery, perhaps a silicon carbon unit, which is renowned for having a higher energy density and superior efficiency. If accurate, this would be the largest battery in a Xiaomi flagship device ever, with the goal of extending screen time without compromising function.

Expect a 50MP triple-camera setup.

About the camera, the Xiaomi 16 is expected to have three 50-megapixel sensors: a telephoto sensor with macro capability, an ultra-wide lens, and a primary 1/1.3-inch sensor. Targeting consumers who are interested in photography, Xiaomi seems to be placing a high priority on uniformity in camera quality across all lenses.

Timeline for display and launch

According to reports, the gadget has a 6.32-inch AMOLED display, similar to the Xiaomi 15, with a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz and 12-bit color capability. If Xiaomi maintains its current timeline, the Xiaomi 16, 16, Pro, and 16 Ultra models should be released in China in October 2025 and in India in March 2026.
