Xiaomi’s Next Foldable Could Change Everything With This Expected Upgrade

Mix Flip 2: Xiaomi enthusiasts hoping for an actual successor to the Mix Fold 4 may finally get one next year. Even though Xiaomi will be releasing its clamshell-shaped Mix Flip 2 later this month, there are fresh reports that a horizontally foldable phone is in the pipeline too. Based on a leak by renowned tipster Smart Pikachu, the company is reportedly preparing for a big step-up in its foldable series, slated for release in 2026.

Major Design and Form Factor Changes

The new phone is said to bring a fresh aspect ratio that suggests radical changes in design from earlier Mix Fold releases. This change may enhance the use and aesthetics of the foldable phone, but precise information on the shape and size of the screen, as well as the dimensions, is not out yet. Whether Xiaomi is going to maintain the “Mix Fold 6” title or reveal a fresh one is not known, but the focus appears to be on evolution rather than iteration.

Snapdragon Powered: Performance Takes a Boost

One of the more concrete pieces of intel is that the new Mix Fold is being tested with a Snapdragon chipset. Although the specific model isn’t confirmed, Xiaomi’s track record with flagship Snapdragon processors indicates it will probably use one of the best chips to come out in 2026. This will make the upcoming Mix Fold competitive with Samsung and Honor’s high-end foldables.

Tri-Foldable Phone Also in the Works

Interestingly, this next-gen Mix Fold might not be the only foldable Xiaomi is working on. Rumors also point to a tri-foldable smartphone with the codename “zhuque” and model number 26013VP46C. Inspired by Huawei’s Mate X series, the tri-foldable could unfold into a larger tablet-like device, offering a completely different use case. Whether this device will replace the Mix Fold lineup or exist alongside it is still unknown.

June to Witness Several Xiaomi Launches

Before next year’s Mix Fold arrives, Xiaomi is already setting up a busy launch calendar for June in China. In addition to the Snapdragon 8 Elite-driven Mix Flip 2, the company is set to launch the Redmi K80 Ultra with the Dimensity 9400+ chip and a fresh gaming tablet. The tablet will be looking to go against Red Magic and Lenovo offerings, introducing even more firepower into Xiaomi’s growing arsenal.

Final Thoughts: Big Things Ahead for Xiaomi Foldables

Though the Mix Flip 2 will steal the show this month, it’s the next horizontally foldable Mix Fold that might reposition Xiaomi in the high-end foldable market. With rumors of new form factors and strong Snapdragon chips, Xiaomi appears ready to make a bold return to the foldable market in 2026.
