Among them, the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party candidates came from the Congress. Vir Singh Dhingan has been a three-time Congress MLA from Seemapuri, but this time he is the Aam Aadmi Party candidate. Similarly, BJP’s Kumari Rinku has been a municipal councillor on a Congress ticket. After Dhingan changed, the Congress has nominated Rajesh Lilothia as its candidate from here. Lilothia was earlier an MLA from Patel Nagar seat.
The main colonies falling under Seemapuri Assembly constituency include Nand Nagri, GTB Enclave, Sunder Nagri, Dilshad Colony, Dilshad Garden, Kheda Village, Jagatpuri Extension, GTB Hospital Complex, Janta Flat, GTB Enclave, Tahirpur Village, New Seemapuri, Anand Gram and Gandhi Gram (Leprosy Ashram) besides many other slums. Seemapuri Assembly constituency has 57,667 voters in the age group of 39 to 40 years. Moreover, the number of voters between 40-49 years is 43,552. The number of young voters in the age group of 20-29 years in this assembly is also 41,246. The number of voters aged 80 years or above is 1992.

Seemapuri Assembly mainly consists of rehabilitation colonies like Seemapuri, Sundar Nagri and Nand Nagri as well as many slum settlements. A large part of the assembly is adjacent to UP. Part of the border from Seemapuri border to Harsh Vihar border is adjacent to UP. In these colonies, roads from the main roads are encroached, which worsens the situation.
