Will the Congress be with the support of Muslims? Know the journey of Delhi so far

Muslims supported Congress: The Congress has deep roots in the strength of Delhi. If we bother the first five years after coming into existence as a state, Delhi has had the longest Congress rule. Congress leader Sheila Dikshit was the chief minister for 15 years from 1998 to 2013. After this, the Aam Aadmi Party came into existence in 2013 under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal.

You had already given a setback in the election

The AAP has already dealt the biggest blow to the Congress by winning 28 out of 70 seats in the election, but has also formed the government with the help of the Congress, which was limited to eight seats. The government lasted for 49 days. Then came the President’s rule. In the 2015 elections, the AAP was so stormy that the Congress was overthrown. The BJP won only three seats.

The account was not opened even in the 2020 election

In the 2020 elections too, the AAP reiterated its historic performance and the Congress remained at zero for the second time. The Congress leadership in this election seemed to be a little serious. The party’s strategy is showing that it is trying to return to its roots. Apart from senior leader and MP Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and national president Mallikarjun Kharge held election rallies and gave prominence to Muslim-dominated areas.

What percentage of Muslims are in Delhi?

The Congress signalled that it wants to see Muslims on its part. According to the 2011 census, Muslims are 13 percent in Delhi.

On January 13, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi held the first meeting in the Delhi elections. The gathering was held in Seelampur, where Muslim voters make up more than 57 per cent of the population. A public meeting was held in Okhla on January 28.

More than 52 percent Muslim voters are in Okhla

More than 52 percent of the electorate are Muslims. On January 30, Rahul Gandhi was in Badli, the number of Muslim voters here is stable. Priyanka Gandhi held a meeting in Mustafabad on January 31.

On February 1, Rahul was campaigning in Sadar Bazar and Priyanka Gandhi was campaigning in Chandni Chowk seat along with New Delhi. On February 2, she had reached Seemapuri and Babarpur. On the same day, Kharge was holding a public meeting in Mustafabad. These are all Muslim-dominated seats.

After the smell of Congress, Muslims went to you

In the 2015 and 2020 elections, Muslim voters voted unilaterally for the AAP. This also shook the ground of the Congress. However, after the 2020 Delhi riots, resentment against AAP was also seen among Muslim voters.

In the municipal elections held in 2022, Muslim voters in Mustafabad, Seelampur, Babarpur and Okhla expressed faith in the Congress rather than the AAP. As a result, six Muslim councillors were elected here.
